GENWORTH INSURANCE DIPS INTO BANK ACCOUNTS WITHOUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We had a life insurance policy on my wife, which the original company transferred to GENWORTH, which is poorly named. GENSCAM would be more accurate, as the firm claims the right to quadruple its monthly cost as the insured person ages, by sending only a mailed notice to the

last known address of that insured -- SO, IF THE PERSON MOVED, IT IS VERY UNLIKELY THAT THEY WILL NEVER BE INFORMED OF SUCH MASSIVE RATE INCREASES UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR BANK ACCOUNT REDUCED OR EVEN OVERDRAWN!

Genworth demands a regular-mail signed authorization in order to stop those increased automatic bank withdrawals, THEN, THIS SLEAZY INSURER TAKES NEARLY A MONTH TO CONFIRM STOPPING SUCH WITHDRAWALS FROM BANK ACCOUNTS! THEY DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO GET TREMENDOUS PREMIUM INCREASES FROM US!

SHAME! BEWARE GENWORTH INSURANCE!

Since I cancelled my insurance I was inundated with letters of past due payment and policy change. Called and emails several times but I can't get them to stop sending me letters of past due. No more dealing business with them. Can't recommend it to anybody who advocate better service of your money.

Preferred solution: Just have a better system and stop sending me mails because I don't want to have business with you anymore.

Have a claim in progress that Genworth continues to try to dusprove. My nuerologist (my stroke), ophthalmologist (vision loss), orthopedist (shoulder surgery set for 11-16-21) and and Genworth nurses all agree with my disability. Awful company to work with....Make a different choice!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My parents chose Genworth for long term care. Have paid in money for over 25 yrs. Genworth customer service is awful... how they treat the elderly during this time, dragging their feet, no one can follow a claim...to see it through. They basically have stolen 6 weeks of money from my parents. It is unethical. My father was in hospice care and they could not get the claim through....by design, they will not give any supervisor or executive contact names. I am sure they couldn't keep up with the complaints. If it isn't too late- chose a different company for long term care of investments. Genworth is absolutely unfit.

Spoke to representative regarding increase in prices and this was the rep response: #1) Degraded to C+ because wanted to sell to China- sell fell through #2) To increase asset amount had to increase premiums-NOT the policy holder's problem. #3) Did sell off some assets to make bottom line look better. Is that correct? My question: When will policy holder see a decrease in prices because of the actuarial NOT doing his/her job even though the policy holder paid the amount for 15 plus years? Jan Davis P.S. I understand GE Long Term has been sold to the China Co. I is that correct?

Do some research and find another plan. However, be aware that the premiums on all of them have been going up and up. Pretty soon you won't be able to afford one if you are age 60 and above due to the hefty premiums.

Dissatisfied Customer - Genworth doesn't care about its elderly clients

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been trying to file a claim for home care services for my 89-year-old father. He has been paying premiums to Genworth for many years -- thousands of dollars going to that company.

Now that he needs to get benefits from Genworth, we are having to jump through so many hoops. Genworth makes the process as hard and convoluted as possible so they don't have to pay. We got a letter from Genworth that had the nerve to say our goal is to make the claims process as easy as possible every step of the way. Bulls!#$!

They don't care about the wellbeing of their elderly clients. They only care about taking advantage of them by charging exorbitant premiums.

Why should an 89-year-old have to prove to Genworth that they need care services??! I wouldn't get a policy from Genworth for myself if they were the only insurance company on Earth.

Fraudulent Policy Practices Re: Chore Services & Premium $$$ Increase

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Genworth - Fraudulent Policy Practices Re: Chore Services & Premium $$$ Increase
I broke my right ankle which required surgery to insert a plate and several screws. I was in the cast over two months and required over three months of physical therapy. The representative that came to my house submitted a report and my claim was denied. Forget chore services which they state as a service on the policy, it only looks good in print it and serves no other purpose. How do they expect me to do laundry? Guess it is supposed to levitate from the second floor of my house to the basement and back. Forget groceries and picking up medication when I can't drive for months. Maybe they devised a way of taking out the garbage with crutches. Change my light bulb, etc. I needed a few hours a weeks for these tasks household tasks. Save your money because you will have to hire someone form Care.com or another company. Thousands of dollars paid into this useless policy and I couldn't even get a few hours of help. To compound matters this year 2020 my $313./month premium was increased to $549./month in March. I can no longer pay this outrageous amount. It's not your customers fault that your company projections were wrong when you started long term care insurance and now faced with too many claims. So your company policy is to deny as many claims as possible and increase the premium to a point where anyone keeping it has to agree to less service in order to pay for it. Based on my experience you will get nothing or have to be half dead before they honor anything. SAVE YOUR MONEY DON'T BUY THIS POLICY.

You hit the nail square on the head. I have received skyrocketing premium increases without them having to pay out any more benefits now than when I took the policy out 12 years ago. What a RIPOFF.

BILLING INAPPRORPIRATELY AND NOT TRANSPARENT

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have been paying long term care for years. I have changed the policy and in all cases including the original sales persona and not until a call on the phone this week was I informed that I was paying a fee for paying quarterly. I have called the insurance commissioner. Genworth committed to and promised to call me back -- a supervisor promised to call I have documented everything and no one has called me back. the service is so bad. I am considering pulling my 90K premium and going to the competition. The original sales guy was horrible -- and slammed the product but would not take a call from me after to change or add to the policy. I would have paid an annually if it had ever been disclosed that there was a 123 fee for paying quarterly. No communication, no transparency and no service and promises to call back and no promise kept -- stay clear of these guys

Original review Jul 29, 2018
One year ago I submitted Surrender of Policy per instruction and submitted Notarized signitures of two trustes with drivers lices of the trustees, and requested accumulated cash value of $ 57,000. Genworth has asked me for Authorization of Trustees form which I have resubmitted. Still Genworth has given me nothing but runaround! I have launched complaint with the Georgia Commissioner of Insurance. Still no response. I have also field a complaint against Georgia Office of Law. I live in Georgia. I need to know what else should I do to get Genworth Life ensurance company to pay back my accumulated $ 57,000. Genworth has violated the Contract it made per it own assurance the the accumulated Cash value will be paid upon Surrender of the Policy.

Annual "Proof of Life" required

With Genworth Life Insurance Company, If you have an annuity that pays you money, you have to sign and notarize a form that you are still alive every year, to receive benefit payments without interruption. Now my bank will not do this and it is really inconvenient to find someone who will do it! They don't even send a self stamped envelope and will not reimburse you, if you have to pay for the notarization. If you call them on the telephone, how do they know who they are talking to? Maybe they should come to your house and take a fingerprint every year at their own expense. No other company I do business with puts you through such a hassle.

Proof of life is an inconvenience and the threat of your annuity being cut to seniors is stressful.. If a person dies it is the banks responsible to notify the insurance co.

I sent it in and I than got another notice.

had to call to make sure they got which they did. With this policy I would never recommend Genworth.

Guest

Our attorney is weighing the options of filing a class-action suit against Genworth for their "Proof of Life" requirement as an age discrimination case. Especially given that all insurance companies receive daily death certificate reports.

Buyer beware!!!!

My father has had this long term health care policy for a long time. He had accumulated over $150,000 in benefits. At the the age of 86 , and health starting to fail him, and finally retiring because of that, he was in need of using some of the accumulated money from his policy. After about 6 months of using some of the funds for a hoyer lift , the company started sending out a bill for the premiums to be paid. Me, the son ,called to find out why he had received this bill. They had informed me that he had not been sending any bills to them for quite a few months , to keep the policy open without making premium payments. They said that the equipment did not count towards keeping the policy active without making the premium payment. After I asked wha did, they said , home care or a skilled nursing facility. If he was to go into a skilled nursing facility there would be a 100 day period before he would be able to use any of his $150,000 that he had accumulated. I said he had been having home care for almost a year, after he had been hospitalized for colon cancer surgery. They said that they would need to have those bills ( from his insurance company ) faxes to them for their review.

After going through all of my folks files and retrieving all of the bills from the insurance company, I faxed them to them. In the mean time we had received another bill for the premium. I received a phone call from them mid March 2018 from them wanting the phone number of the insurance company, which I gave them. I received another phone call April 18 th 2018 saying that the insurance that my father has is a Medicare supplement insurance which is not covered through his Genworth policy, so since his policy had been lapse since April 12th, that his claim is now closed. When I asked the lady, so the $150,000 that my father had accumulated over a several year period, is like disappeared ??? She started to go through a speel about his insurance has lapsed. I stopped her and I said , it’s a yes or no answer ! She started her speel again.

This policy is a joke !!! Most people who are in their 80’s are going to have a Medicare supplemental insurance policy. This will NOT be able to be used to file a claim, or have an open claim, to be able to use the money that has been accumulated through the years of the policy that you paid your premiums.

The policy is a JOKE and you will be wasting your money, thinking you will have a safety net when you get older !!!

DO NOT PURCHASE this type of policy !!!!!!!!

Read the policy. You don't "accumulate" money in a long term care policy.

You pay annual or monthly premium to keep the policy active. If you lapsed the premium payment for even one month, then the policy is null and void, without recourse. It's horrible, but that's what happens when seniors get older-- they stop paying the premium, and all the years that the policy were active go up in a puff of smoke with absolutely no recourse.

Of course, a law should be implemented preventing horrible companies from doing this, but alas. There is no law against it.

As bad as it gets from Genworth

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My Mother, Doris E. Cowell, has been a 10 year policyholder with Genworth(previously AMEX and GE Capital).

The policy was purchased in the event of an eventuality of long term care. She entered Magnolia Springs on or about August 3rd 2017 which is an approved assisted living facility in Louisville KY. I filed her claim shortly after her move in. She is under their care and receives 2 Functional needs units (bathing and dressing)due to arthritis and fall risk.

Your phone representative indicated that you had not received my Mothers internist form nor the assisted living (Magnolia Springs) form. They were mailed in the envelopes provided by Genworth and mailed at the same time as the HIIPA forms so I find that strange. Regardless, by attachment, I am providing their contact data as well as additional information. " As a point of information, my Mother is close to 88, has had both hips and one knee replaced, has a torn rotator cuff caused by a flying piece of plywood off a restaurant roof years ago, has a severe case of osteoarthritis in all joints, has a metal plate in her right forearm as a result of a fall suffered last November which has restricted the use of her right arm(she is right handed) and periodically suffers from vertigo which makes her a fall risk.

These are just the more obvious aliments. " I am looking forward to a speedy and satisfactory conclusion to this claim. They have now denied our claim.

The internet is filled with negative experiences about this company which was recently sold to a Chinese company. They are preying upon the oldest and weakest in our society.

Genworth now has an online portal for upload of documents like these. This keeps Genworth honest. Otherwise, Genworth can say "We never received the forms in the mail." Either use the online portal, or send the paper documents signature required upon delivery or via Fedex to prove receipt.
